GAP, Inc. and Matt White Bring Reason to this Election Season

What better way is there to launch a young web site’s style section… then to talk about something political? I know – this may not sound like a sound strategy, but this debut fashion column swings through the political spectrum with an open mind. PensEyeView has no interest in whether you vote for Obama or McCain, but rather that you actually get out there to the polls. Same goes for PEV alum, and “The Next Face of Pop,” Mr. Matt White. That’s why he’s teamed up with GAP for the “Vote For” Initiative, a program encouraging voters to express their opinions and ideas using GAP’s iconic white t-shirt as their platform.

Back in August, White customized his own “Vote For” shirt, inspired by his tune “Love” from the debut album “Best Days.” Just like his “Vote for Love” t-shirt, you can now make your own shirt to voice your passions and opinions – whether you care about the economy, healthcare, war, or really good beer. Tell it to the world in style!

White is working further at this intersection of music, style and passion, collaborating with GAP on a tune called “Songs of Freedom,” (Gap.com/votefor, declareyourself.com and mattwhitemusic.com) daring listeners further to express themselves this election season. It fits along the lines of White’s stand out style – an enriching sound that can turn around just about any pessimistic mood.

There’s a ton of other “Vote For” activities that GAP and Matt White are working with. Below you’ll find more information on how Matt White, GAP and a white t-shirt can affect our nation’s next election:

On Gap.com/votefor, Gap has created a microsite featuring videos from 10 personalities and thought leaders expressing what they "Vote For.” Participants include Bill Maher, Norman Lear, Cameron Sinclair, Perez Hilton, Mark Cuban, Olivia Munn, Kristen Bell, The Cool Kids, John Picard, and Minka Kelly.
The microsite will also house a gallery of 300 different Facebook “Vote For __.” buttons (of course, there’s a Facebook page for this effort!).
From October 23 through November 4, Gap’s rotating concept store, next door to its NYC flagship store at 54th and 5th Avenue, will bring to life the 10 videos featured on Gap.com/votefor.
Keep an eye out for the “Vote For” posters around New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Chicago starting on October 23^rd. That’s your chance to publically write in what you’re passionate about this election season.
